Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 2026-10-15

Welcome to the IELTS with AI Privacy Policy ("Policy"). It explains what information the IELTS with AI: Test Prep mobile app ("App") collects, how we use and store it, and who we share it with. Please read it together with our Terms of Use at https://ieltswithaiapp.com/terms/.

IELTS with AI is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the IELTS test owners. AI band scores in the App are practice estimates, not official IELTS results.

Our services run on Google Cloud and Firebase, mainly in the United States, so your information will be sent to and processed in the United States wherever you live.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

a. Account and profile information

You can use the App as a guest or create an account with email and password, Google or Apple. When you create an account we collect:

If you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider shares your name and email address with us. With Apple you can hide your email, in which case Apple gives us a private relay address. We do not collect your date of birth, gender or location.

b. Guest mode

As a guest you sign in anonymously. Your study log stays on your device and nothing is stored under your name on our servers. If you later create an account, your study log from the device is copied to your new account.

c. Practice and progress

When you are signed in we store your practice activity: which daily questions and study items you did, your scores, word counts and recording lengths, your streak and your Word of the Day progress.

d. Writing answers and speaking recordings (AI scoring)

e. Purchases

Gold subscriptions are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. They handle your payment, and we never receive your card details. To unlock Gold we verify each purchase on our server with Apple or Google and keep a record of it: the product, store, transaction ID or purchase token, expiry date, the store receipt and notifications the stores send us about your subscription.

f. Device and diagnostic information

g. Advertising

Free users see ads served by Google AdMob. Before ads are shown, the App asks for your consent through Google's consent form where required, and on iPhone it asks for permission to track (App Tracking Transparency). Depending on your choices, Google may use your device's advertising identifier and IP address to show personalised or non-personalised ads and to measure them. Gold removes ads.

h. Messages you send us

If you send feedback in Settings or report a sign-in problem, we store your message with your email, name or user ID, device model, operating system, app version and platform so we can reply.

i. Cookies

The App does not use browser cookies. It uses identifiers provided by the SDKs above (Firebase installation ID, push token and, with your consent, the advertising identifier). This website does not set cookies.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send you marketing emails.

Lawful basis

Under EU and UK data protection laws we rely on: contract, to provide the App and Gold you asked for (account, practice, AI scoring, purchases); legitimate interests, for analytics, crash reports, security and replying to you; and consent, for personalised ads and tracking (you can change this in the consent form and in your device settings) and for microphone access and notifications.

3. WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We share information only with the service providers we use to run the App:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our users and the App.

4. SECURITY

We use Firebase security rules so that, from the App, only you can read your own account data, and speaking recordings can only be uploaded to your own folder. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is ever completely secure, though, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorised access will never happen. To help keep your account safe:

5. LINKING GOOGLE OR APPLE ACCOUNTS

When you sign in with Google or Apple, you allow that provider to share your name and email address with us, and we use them to create your IELTS with AI account. If you remove IELTS with AI from your Google or Apple account settings, we will no longer receive data from them, but we keep the information we received when you signed up until your account and data are deleted (see section 7).

6. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you the right to:

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may ask for information to confirm your identity first. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner's Office (www.ico.org.uk) in the UK.

7. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

We keep your account, practice records and AI results while your account exists. The App shows free users the last 3 days of study history and Gold users 90 days, but that is a display limit, not a deletion schedule. The App also keeps its own copy of your study log on your device for 90 days.

8. CHILDREN

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Policy as the App changes. We will post the new version on this page with a new Last Updated date, and for material changes we will also let you know in the App.
